From wood to finished product: a sustainable cycle
Starting June 10, and for a duration of four weeks, Piazza Verdi in Bolzano will host a wooden installation dedicated to the valorization of the local woodland heritage. The initiative stems from an idea by ProRamus, which brings together South Tyrolean organizations from the forest-wood sector, with the important goal of raising public awareness about the importance of wood as a natural and sustainable material. The centerpiece of the exhibition will be a Swiss stone pine tree (cirmolo), a typical species of our Alpine areas known for its countless beneficial properties, which for the occasion has been carved using modern, high-precision milling cutters.
The installation intends to guide the visitor on a fascinating journey "from tree to product", visually showing the multiple forms that wood can take along the entire value chain. The exhibition path will compare the wisdom of traditional and artisanal manufacturing methods typical of the region with the most modern possibilities of engineering and architectural use, such as innovative, low-environmental-impact wooden buildings.
