France in the late 19th century:

Marie Curie from Poland is studying at the Sorbonne in Paris. As a woman, she was not allowed to study in her home country. The young physicist receives little support or encouragement. Marie finds a partner in her future husband, Pierre Curie. Together they discover radioactivity, Marie is awarded the Nobel Prize. But radioactivity also harbors dangers that were not yet foreseeable.
