1962, Germany: twelve-year-old Karla courageously stands up to a world in which children are expected to remain silent. She defies the authority of her father, the silence of her family, and a society that prefers to look away rather than listen. But Karla does not remain mute – she speaks out, accuses, and in doing so changes more than she ever thought possible.

Inspired by a true court case, Karla tells the story of a young girl who finds the courage to stand up for herself – and in doing so gives a voice to others. In her debut role, Elise Krieps captivates with quiet strength and an unwavering presence.
