Can feminism and religion coexist? Girls & Gods is a fearless journey led by Inna Shevchenko, the author and initiator of the project, to answer precisely this question. Shevchenko, who once became known as the leader of FEMEN's topless protests against patriarchal power structures, now exchanges protest for dialogue by inviting priestesses, imams, rabbis, theologians and other activists to open discussions. Together, they address the gap between women's rights and religious traditions, asking whether ancient religions can accept gender equality and whether feminism can find a place in the hallowed halls.

Directed by Arash T. Riahi and Verena Soltiz, Girls & Gods is more than a visually stunning film – it is an artful narrative that challenges long-standing traditions and hierarchies. The directors weave a captivating and provocative journey that invites audiences to re-examine sacred iconography through a feminist lens, transforming symbols of faith into powerful visions of female emancipation. The result is an accessible yet provocative documentary that invites viewers to witness a transformation – one that could reshape the relationship between faith and feminism.
