Film: FRATELLI SI DIVENTA OMAGGIO A WALTER BONATTI, L’UOMO DEL MONTE BIANCO
Documentary film, Italy, 2021, 58'
Directed by Alessandro Filippini and Fredo Valla
StudioEffe
At the centre, the portrait of the symbol of world mountaineering, outlined by Reinhold Messner, who picked up Bonatti's baton on the highest mountains on earth, in an ideal relay race between two generations. The two mountaineers are linked by a deep relationship that is not without its disagreements. In the documentary, they confront each other in a close face-to-face, sharing their vision of mountaineering and adventure, "discovering themselves to be brothers". The film retraces some of Bonatti's most important exploits (the solitary on the north face of the Matterhorn and on the Dru, the route opened with Ghigo on the Gran Capucin, the Pilier d'Angle and the attempt on the Central Pylon of Freney), starting with the one on K2 and Gasherbrum IV, witnessed by the images of the films "Italia K2" by Marcello Baldi and "G-IV. Montagna di luce' by Renato Cepparo, made available thanks to the Cai film library.
