Exhibition: "Cabbage & turnips"

On the wake of our potato-project, this year's special exhibit is devoted to the cultural history of cabbage, turnips and sauerkraut in Tyrol and its neighbouring regions. Their importance in alpine foodways, in folk-medicine, in legends and folk-customs is illustrated with precious drawings for ancient herbals, ingenuous tools used in former times, handwritten cook-books and a multitude of iconographic sources. A cultural and culinary voyage through the centuries and at the same time a discovery of the growing importance of fermented foods and of our traditional sauerkraut for the contemporary health conscious diet.
