Museion presents DUEL. Adam and Eve, the first act of the dance piece DUEL, which emerged in 2014 from the encounter between Abbondanza/Bertoni and the South Tyrolean sculptor Adolf Vallazza. The meeting was made possible by journalist Fabio Zamboni on the occasion of the artist's 90th birthday. The piece is now being revived as part of the Adolf Vallazza 100 exhibition, which Museion is dedicating to the sculptor on his 100th birthday. Only the first act of the original dance piece, which tells the story of Genesis in three acts and using three totems, will be performed again here: the encounter between Adam and Eve. Inspired by the Book of Genesis and especially its first part, the biblical prehistory, a male and a female performer are transported back in time: In the place of the first man and the first woman, the two will interact with Adolf Vallazza's monumental totem, which refers to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Furthermore, the title DUEL brings to mind the idea of duality, the presence of material sculptures and those made of bodies, wood and flesh, of an osmosis of juxtaposed works from the realms of the totemic and the human. The creative process runs through reciprocal possibilities of contemplation and development in a synergetic exploration of hallucinated beauty and new architectures of sensation.
