Donne senza uomini
Tehran, 1953. During the conflict to emancipate Persia from European powers and achieve nationalization of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, four women from different walks of life try to survive their tragic fates determined (by fathers and brothers). Munis is a young woman with a passionate political consciousness who resists the isolation imposed on her by her brother; Faezeh dreams of marrying the man she loves; Fakhiri, married without love, leaves her husband and rekindles the flame of a past feeling; Zarin is a prostitute abused by men whose faces she no longer distinguishes. One step away from democracy, the four women will leave the city for the land, a prodigious and bucolic space where they can forget the abuse, the oppression, the violence. But outside the walls, History advances, besieging their lives and hopes.
