Serge is an established doctor who buys a contemporary art painting for a substantial sum. His friend Marc, an engineer, scolds and taunts him because, in his opinion, he has been cheated with the purchase. Yvan, a neutral-minded commercial agent, a champion of "let's do what you like best...", desperately tries to hold together the fragments of what seems to be a long friendship at an end. Is it really the picture that divides them? Does friendship really win out over everything or is it just a series of mutual forbearances that are bound to explode sooner or later?
