Concert of the South Tyrolean Youth Wind Orchestra
In 2026, the annual rehearsal period of the South Tyrolean Youth Wind Orchestra will focus on its participation in the World Music Contest (WMC) in Kerkrade, the Netherlands.
The World Music Contest is one of the world's most prestigious international competitions for wind orchestras and is held every four years in Kerkrade. In addition to wind orchestras, the event also features brass bands, fanfare orchestras and marching bands from numerous countries.
The South Tyrolean Youth Wind Orchestra will perform on Friday, 24 July 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the First Division, the second-highest competition category. A total of 16 wind orchestras from seven European countries will compete before an international jury of experts.
Participation in the World Music Contest reflects the orchestra's continuous artistic development over recent years. For its debut at the WMC, the orchestra will present Toccata e Fantasia by Thomas Doss, Trencadís by Bert Appermont and Asphalt Cocktail by John Mackey.
The concerts in Silandro, Falzes and Bolzano offer audiences the opportunity to experience the competition programme shortly before the orchestra's international performance in Kerkrade.
