It has been around 20 years since Andrea "Andy" Sachs and Emily Charlton, as assistants to fashion magazine editor-in-chief Miranda Priestley, suffered under her rigorous leadership. Since then, the two women have gone their separate ways; Emily is now a successful manager of a luxury brand and has a large advertising budget at her disposal. Miranda Priestley could certainly do with that money, as sales of her magazine, Runway, are steadily declining. And so the paths of Miranda, Andy and Emily cross once again...
