BOLZANODANZA/TANZBOZEN 2025 - Louise
Martin Zimmermann
Louise
Italian Premiere
A captivating tribute to feminine strength and transformation inspired by Louise Bourgeois. In a strange, makeshift laboratory, four performers constantly switch roles — becoming leaders, test subjects, patients — in a surreal game of power and resistance. Louise is dedicated to French-American artist Louise Bourgeois, the first woman to receive a solo exhibition at New York’s MoMA. Swiss choreographer and director Martin Zimmermann tells his story without words, relying on bodies, objects, and images. The stage becomes a place of continuous transformation, where movement and materials take on a life of their own. With wild imagination and striking presence, four extraordinary performers challenge conventional ideas of identity and femininity, balancing irreverent humour and bold theatricality.
With the support of the Culture Department City of Zurich, the Department of Culture Canton Zurich and Pro Helvetia – Swiss Arts Council.
