Blitzanzieher - Wildflowers and insects
On July 12, 2025 at 6 PM, the newly renovated barn at Hotel Amazonas will reopen with a special event: Gerd Sulzenbacher will give a German-language reading from his debut book “Abriss” (Engeler Verlag, 2025), accompanied by a soundscape and live set by sound artist Hannes Hoelzl. At the same time, an exhibition will open featuring works by Aaa Biczysko, Arnold Holzknecht, Margareth Kaserer, Clara Mayr, Alexander Wierer, and TETA (Jörg Zemmler).
The barn, long abandoned and damaged, is now filled with light and ready for new life. The invited artists have passed through, worked in, or been connected to Hotel Amazonas in recent months – their works speak of transitions, cracks, and new beginnings.
Sulzenbacher’s reading moves through a drifting urban life with wit and depth, while Hoelzl’s music opens the space sonically – first experimental, then dense and immersive.
A crack still runs through the foundation, but the roof holds. The lightning has passed, wildflowers bloom – and with them, life returns.
