Wim Wenders paints a film portrait of one of the most innovative and important visual artists of our time: Anselm Kiefer. The film allows its audience a cinematic journey through the work of an artist whose art explores human existence and the cyclical nature of history, inspired by literature and poetry, history, philosophy, science, mythology and religion. Wenders followed Kiefer for more than two years, linking the stages of his life and places of creation in a career spanning more than 50 years between Germany and France.
