The Alps Brass Festival marks the launch of a new international music project in Bolzano, aiming to establish South Tyrol as a meeting point for the brass band scene across the Alpine region. The 2026 Opening Edition takes the form of a concert weekend featuring Brass Band Bozen Überetsch alongside the Cory Band from Wales, one of the most acclaimed and decorated brass bands in the world.

On Saturday evening, both ensembles perform their own programmes before joining forces on stage for a shared finale. Sunday morning brings a Matinée Concert, offering a further opportunity to hear both bands live. The repertoire ranges from powerful, large-scale works to lyrical and atmospheric pieces, showcasing the full sonic range of a brass band.

The weekend also carries a competitive dimension: at the European Brass Band Championships in Linz in April 2026, Brass Band Bozen Überetsch will compete in the Championship Section for the first time – the same tier as the Cory Band. The festival thus offers a rare chance to experience two ensembles live who will soon face each other at the European Championships.

What begins this year as a meeting between two ensembles is set to grow: in the coming years, the Alps Brass Festival aims to develop into a full international festival with multiple bands and its own competition.
