2nd ‘Harrwitz Memorial’ International Chess Open
The international chess tournament dedicated to Daniel Harrwitz, one of the strongest chess players of the 19th century, has reached its second edition. The German player spent the final part of his life in Bolzano, where his grave — rediscovered some years ago — is still preserved. The tournament honors the memory of the great champion and is organized by the ARCI Chess Club of Bolzano, with the crucial support of the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation.
The competition, which has attracted many strong international players, will take place from April 25th to 27th in the Sparkasse Academy, located at Via Cassa di Risparmio 16, Bolzano.
There will be six rounds of play: on Friday at 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM, on Saturday at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, and on Sunday at 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM. The event is open to the public and media. Media representatives may enter the playing hall for photos and interviews with the organizers preferably within the first 30 minutes of each round.
