ZAHY - FABLE OF MARACANÃ
Am Vorabend der Fußballweltmeisterschaft 2014 in Rio droht ein altes Gebäude abgerissen zu werden, um einen Parkplatz für die Fans zu bauen. Dieser Ort ist jedoch heiliges und politisches Territorium für Brasiliens indigene Bewegungen und wird von ihnen mit Fantasie und Mut verteidigt. Dieses Video entstand in Zusammenarbeit zwischen Bragança und Zahy - die erst kürzlich in Rio de Janeiro angekommen ist - und ist das erste audiovisuelle Werk der jungen indigenen Künstlerin und Aktivistin. Das Video entstand ursprünglich als Webvideo und wurde auf Einladung von Apichatpong Weerasethakul auch auf der Sharjah Arts Biennale 2013 gezeigt.

Questo luogo, tuttavia, è un territorio sacro e politico per i movimenti indigeni brasiliani e sarà difeso da loro con immaginazione e coraggio. On the eve of the 2014 World Cup in Rio, an old building is under threat of being demolished to become a parking lot for soccer fans. This place, however, is sacred and political territory for Brazil's indigenous movements and will be defended by them with imagination and courage. This video was made in collaboration between Bragança and Zahy - who had recently arrived in Rio de Janeiro - in what was to be the young artist leader and indigenous activist's first audiovisual work. The video was originally created as a web-video and was also shown at the Sharjah Arts Biennial 2013 by the invitation of Apichatpong Weerasethakul.

Agendo intensamente nel mercato artistico, che si tratti di teatro o di audiovisivi, Zahy si interroga sempre sull'equilibrio tra le esigenze del mercato capitalista e i suoi scopi di comunicazione e sensibilità nel suo lavoro.
Die autodidaktische und multidisziplinäre Künstlerin Zahy - geboren im Reservat Cana Brava im brasilianischen Maranhão - ist das Ergebnis einer Identität, die ursprüngliche und zeitgenössische Themen miteinander verbindet und innovative Dialoge zwischen ihren verschiedenen Sprachen webt, wobei sie in ihren Werken das Verhalten der Menschheit und ihre soziokulturellen Interventionen hinterfragt. Zahy agiert intensiv auf dem Kunstmarkt, sei es im Theater oder im audiovisuellen Bereich, und hinterfragt in seiner Arbeit stets das Gleichgewicht zwischen den Anforderungen des kapitalistischen Marktes und seinen Zielen der Kommunikation und Sensibilität.
Self-taught and multi-disciplinary, Zahy, an indigenous woman and artist - born in the Cana Brava reserve in the Maranhão/Brazil - is the result of her identity that crosses original and contemporary themes and weaves innovative dialogues between her multiple languages, questioning through her creations the behaviour of humanity and its socio-cultural interventions today. Acting intensively in the art market, be it theatre or audio-visual, Zahy always questions the balance between the demands of the capitalist market and its aims of communication and sensitivity in his work.

Felipe Bragança (1980, Brasile) è nato a Rio de Janeiro e ha studiato cinema presso la scuola pubblica di cinema Fluminense Federal University. Ha avuto la sua prima esperienza professionale nel 2005 come assistente alla regia di Karim Aïnouz. Da allora ha diretto quattro lungometraggi, un mediometraggio, cinque cortometraggi e ha creato un progetto multimediale (tra cui una serie web e una graphic novel). Le sue opere si basano tutte sulla cultura brasiliana e sulle memorie storiche, affrontando una nuova forma di realismo magico per esplorarne gli strati. Le sue opere sono state presentate in festival come Cannes, IFFR, Berlinale, Locarno e Sundance. Ha tenuto retrospettive del suo lavoro a Parigi (Jeu de Paume), Los Angeles (California Institute of the Arts) e Berlino (Arsenal e Wolf Kino). Seine Werke basieren alle auf der brasilianischen Kultur und historischen Erinnerungen, wobei er eine neue Form des magischen Realismus verwendet, um die verschiedenen Ebenen zu erkunden. Seine Werke wurden auf Festivals wie Cannes, IFFR, Berlinale, Locarno und Sundance präsentiert. Er hatte Retrospektiven seiner Arbeiten in Paris (Jeu de Paume), Los Angeles (California Institute of the Arts) und Berlin (Arsenal und Wolf Kino).
